The god of love, youth and poetic inspiration in Irish mythology; son of the Dagda and Boann, dweller of Brú na Bóinne (Newgrange). Famous in the tale 'Aislinge Óenguso' (The Dream of Aengus).
The story behind Aengus
Aengus dreamed of a beautiful maiden, Caer Ibormeith, and searched all Ireland for her; he found her transformed into a swan and joined her in swan-form, the two flying together while singing music that made listeners sleep for three days.
